Hello

My passion for flora started young, as a daughter and granddaughter of plant growers. This passion flourished when I moved to New Mexico in 2009 and shortly thereafter began working alongside many gifted plant people at Santa Fe Greenhouses. I am grateful to have worked at SFG and to have learned from David Salman and many other plant mentors who I met there and am still friends with today.

I have continued to develop a keen passion for ecology and horticulture. I grow a variety of cacti and succulents for the garden.

One of my greatest passions is botanical exploration and I pilgrimage to observe plants in habitat as much as possible.

Here I am in Namaqualand, South Africa with a many decades old Pachypodium namaquanum.

My garden business history…

In 2017, my garden business, Hopper and Sun, was born.

From 2017 - 2019 H+S was a cut flower garden, a floral service and a source for carefully grown cacti and succulents.

From 2019 - 2024, Hopper and Sun primarily offered garden tending services in Santa Fe. Maintaining gardens in these years has given me a unique knowledge of what works well in the microclimates of Northern New Mexico.

Since 2020, I have tailored garden designs with a focus on native plants, cacti and succulents. Working in tandem with clients to bring about a garden worthy of its inhabitants, human and non-human, is an honor and a delight.

Since 2020, I have also maintained the private collection of cacti, succulents and other exotic plants in the greenhouse at the private Santa Fe residence, Sol y Sombra.

I have a background in studio art, an MFA in Art Theory and Practice from Northwestern University where my work was focused in photography and video installation.

Since moving to New Mexico in 2010, I have focused more and more on 3-dimensional work - experimenting in the fiber arts and more recently with an earth-based ceramic practice.

I have designed and worked on many book projects with artists, writers, yoga teachers, among others. This work has been a joy for me as it taps into my love of design and arrangement while working collaboratively with other creatives.

I create pottery for cacti and succulent plants and I stay present and alert to what else wants to come through creatively.

I am available for editorial photography.

I am available for workshops and tours.

I live among the trees and oaks in Northern New Mexico with my spouse, many plant beings, an elderly cat and 2 dog companions.
