Garden Design

Container Rock Gardens

Spending time in the field - observing how plants interact with one another, alongside geology and within the greater landscape - has inspired me to create distinctive container gardens and pottery.

I grow a number of cold hardy plants from seed including many South Africans succulents and propagate other saxatile (rock loving) plants such as Sempervivum and Sedum. I also source other fascinating plants from specialty nurseries.

We can design a custom rock garden arrangement using one of my ceramic or hypertufa containers or use one of your existing pots.

Garden Design

I design eco-conscious gardens that are envisioned with the land, the inhabitants and the climate shifts in mind. Together we work to create a garden worthy of these elements and one that inspires engagement in relationship with the life around you. Areas of interest and expertise are native plants, cacti and succulents and rock gardens.

Jo and Laurie:

“Roxane was a joy to work with - responsive and creative.  She listened to our ideas & understand our needs desire to incorporate existing elements, then visited several times during different parts of the day to check the space, light, etc. before finalizing the design.

Excellent design layout with a full planting list linked to graphics to assist in placement, and recommendations for landscapers and a metal worker to execute the vision. Transformed a mostly bare gravel filled space into an oasis that works year-round and is relatively low maintenance, we couldn't be happier!”

Carolyn Kastner

“Roxane is a compassionate professional. She listened patiently to my concerns and desires and shaped a glorious new garden in an attentive process from planning to planting (and after). She was responsive as I expressed my desires for perennials that would thrive in the heat of full sun in dazzling colors. She envisioned a new design, while preserving favorites such as my beloved rose bush. She worked collaboratively with my gardener as he planted according to her plan. Finally, Roxane was sensitive to my anxious questions as the new grasses and flowers took root and bloomed.”
